Music and Dances

What to expect......

A fun night of dancing to the very best music from the Swing Era. Two hours of live music from the 8 piece Ashby "little" Big Band (saxes, Brass, Piano, Bass and Drums). The evening also features one or two vocalists.

Period dress is encouraged but not essential.

Music......

If you can think of the "Top 20 Hits"  from the war years you won't be far off guessing the core of our programme for the night. In the Mood, American patrol, Little Brown Jug, Mack the Knife, Woodchoppers Ball, Begin the Beguine, The Charleston, T'aint What You Do, Opus One, Stompin' at the Savoy, Take the A Train, Isle of Capri...

Dances......

We try to get an even balance of Sequence/Ballroom, Stroll and Swing dance styles to include everyone;  Dances such as Quickstep, Foxtrot, Waltz, St Bernard's Waltz, Veleta, Barn Dance, Stroll, Shim Sham, Lindyhop, Jive, Tango and Charleston.
